Tree People
My favorite people are tree people. Who is a tree person? Someone who studies trees, loves trees, plants trees, writes about trees, talks about trees. If you know other tree people feel free to contact me so I can add them here.

Felix Finkbeiner
Felix was 9 years old when he planted his first tree. Within a few short years, the United Nations asked him to run their Billion Trees project--and he renamed it the Trillion Trees Project. You can plant a tree with Felix. Download the Plant for the Planet app.
Suzanne Simard
Dr Simard loves forests. She leads forest research called The Mother Tree Project. If you want to learn more about how trees communicate with each other, she can help.

Jadev Peyang
Jadev Peyang is called Forest Man by those who live on his island. Since 1979, Jadev has single-handedly reforested part of his island into an oasis the size of New York's central park. All by himself.
Wangari Maathai
Wangari and her helpers planted more than 50 million trees in Kenya. Her work meant dealing with people who disagreed with her. But she changed the ecology of Kenya, and she was awarded the Nobel Peace Price.

Julia Butterfly Hill
Julia Butterfly Hill lived in a 1,000-year-old redwood tree called Luna for more than two years to save it from being killed for lumber. She slept, cooked, and worked on a small platform high in the canopy of the tree. She saved Luna and many of the trees surrounding her. You can read more about her here.
You

Why not have a tree-friendly Christmas and make your own Christmas tree like this family did?

Or buy hemp toilet paper. Every day 270,000 trees are killed to make toilet paper.

Or eat less beef. The USA imports beef from Brazil where cattle ranching is the main cause of deforestation of the Amazon.
